Security Management Policy

It is Triaena’s Maritime Security (TMS) Policy to conduct and control its business of providing Maritime Security Services by means of a formalized modern and effective Security Management System (SMS), in alignment to the requirements of ISO 28000 and specifically the guidelines provided in ISO 28007-1:2015.

TMS has established Security Objectives & Standards at all relevant functions and levels, aiming at:

  • Lawfully provide services at a consistently high-standard, including safeguarding both TMS and our client’s reputation seeking continual improvement
  • Never allow our clients’ vessels to be unlawfully boarded or the crew/our personnel to be harmed, or the vessel we are guarding to be damaged as a consequence of any such acts, or by our personnel
  • Ensure that any third-parties found to be unlawfully on board a vessel which we are guarding, shall be treated in a humane fashion; guaranteeing respect for their human rights. We will seek to prevent any behavior towards them which is contrary to human rights obligations owed to them
  • Managing Risk, reducing the likelihood of events, as well as minimizing the effects of incidents and mitigating the consequences by adequate preparation & resilience
  • Provide Security to client’s vessels and crew in accordance with contract

TMS in order to effectively implement its Security Policy:

  • Communicates the Security Policy to all interested parties
  • Provides adequate resources & support/training to the PCASP for the purpose
  • Implements procedures to prepare and respond to security related emergency situations
  • Designates appropriate personnel to monitor security aspects on-board & ashore
  • Prepares & Trains shore-based personnel and PCASP for handling emergency situations
  • Implements all National, International & Flag Administrative Requirements promoting them to all company’s personnel through the existing Training Programs
  • Prevents unauthorized access to shore-based premises
  • Cooperates with Port Authorities, shore-based facilities and Agents to enhance security level during operations and embarkation/disembarkation of the PCASP
  • Gathers information with respect to Security Threats and promotes the information exchange regarding security incidents
  • Evaluates and continually improves the risk-based security processes/measures followed by taking necessary actions in order to identify the problem areas through the implementation of Internal Auditing & Management Review Systems

Security Objectives

TMS Security Objectives regarding the Security Policy & SMS implementation include:

  • Assessing & Monitoring the security aspects of all PCASP and shore-based premises
  • Establishing safeguards against identified risks
  • Complying with National, International & Flag Administrative Requirements as applicable
  • Avoiding Security Incidents that could cause human injury, loss of life or damage to the ship, the property and assets under its management
  • Ensuring fast, secure and efficient exchange of security related information
  • Protecting physical and Information Technology (IT) assets
  • Enhancing efforts to combat piracy
  • Enhancing the capability of PCASP to deal with the consequences of a piracy attack
  • Protecting the security of vessels and ensuring effective systems of piracy control

TMS Policies & SMS incorporate the principles of ICoC (International Code of Conduct), Human Rights, Humanitarian and International Laws such as the Voluntary Principles and UN Basic Principles on the Use of Force & Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials (1990), complying with all relevant International and National Legislation, Regulations, Industry Guidance and other applicable requirements in order to meet our clients’ security needs in a responsible fashion.

These form part of contract negotiations with the client to take account of differing jurisdictions and statutory requirements as between Home, Flag, Coastal and Port States.

Responsibility, Communication & Awareness

This Policy applies to all of our operations including Head Office Management, on vessel delivery, procurement, recruitment selection & training.
The Quality & Security Manager is responsible for ensuring this TMS Policy and the related SMS, are correctly and effectively implemented. However, all TMS employees (management, office staff and PCASP) have the responsibility to ensure that the aims and objectives of this policy are met; thus, it is required to familiarize themselves with the contents of SMS through Training Procedures and they are responsible for promoting and meeting TMS aims and objectives during their work.
Everyone connected with TMS, including any subcontractors and/or outsourcing partners are required to be aware and comply with TMS’s Security Management Policy, Culture, Ethics and Objectives, and the contribution they make to the effectiveness of that system and the benefits of performance improvement as well as the adverse implications of not conforming with the Security System Requirements.
TMS Management is responsible for monitoring the compliance and review the SMS on a regular basis in order to ensure that it remains relevant and effective, pursuing the need for continual improvement. Additionally, TMS Management is committed to continuous improvement through lessons-learnt implementation.


The resources available by TMS include Information, Management Tools, Human Resources (people with relevant experience and specialist skills & knowledge), and Financial Support.
TMS ensures that all required resources are available to achieve its objectives and targets, while complying with applicable and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Monitoring, Auditing & Records

Progress against the aforementioned Security Objectives is updated as appropriate, monitored & evaluated through management meetings.
Records have been established and maintained/controlled by our SMS in order to provide evidence of the conformity to requirements and the effectiveness/high performance of the operations conducted.
